I am a descendant of immigrants My grandparents came to the USA about the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. My Father Jumped ship just after WWII. They were all from Finland.
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses, yearning to breath free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest tossed,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
They must have believed What the Lady Liberty Inscription said.
I love this country. Even if in it too many people Hate immigrant and don’t accept this inscription.
911 was a horrible day. Besides all the other reasons it rallied all the people that already Hated people of other Races other cultures other religious then themselves . They thought 911 legitimized their Hatred.
The news on yahoo Has several stories about cultural diversity
One is about the man who was a Sikh that was slain just after 911
The brother of this man was quoted “I miss my brother almost every day. It's a big thing. But I never wanted to go back to India, never lost my belief in America.”:http://www.AZ central.com/news/articles/2011/09/06/20110906-brother-slain-Sikh-love-conquer-tragedy.html#ixzz1XAZYxRbm
in spite of the death of his brother he loves America too.
Another “Phoenix area Muslims building bridges” discusses the Muslim community in Phoenix AZ attempts to spared understanding about Islam and peace. there are over 40 nationalities represented by this community. One of them is the USA.
These stories as with all stores about diversity have had a list of comments that are obscene and hate full.
Another stories is one about a tradional New York City parade.
“High-spirited spectators behind police barricades joined in with impromptu dancing as music pounded from massive loudspeakers aboard floats rumbling through the Crown Heights neighborhood, which also is home to the world headquarters of the Lubavitch Orthodox Jewish community.
Some sat on their porches watching people waving the bright flags of their native islands and enjoying Caribbean delicacies sold by vendors whose barbecues released delicious-smelling smoke into the late summer air. “http://news.yahoo.com/violence-amid-revelry-ny-west-indian-day-parade-031906107.html
These excerpts sound beautiful. until you see the head line of the story. It seems some violence broke out by a gunman in part of the city by a gunman. Of course the news only exacerbated the issue of hate by posting nationally a story that most of the time is otherwise only locally broadcast. My condolences does go out to the people that were injured and the family of the Woman that was killed.
We need to take back out country from these people that Hate. we need to stop the Hatred.
The People that Hate in the pretenses that they are the real Americans need to be taught that they are descendants of Immigrants Just as I am just as the Americans of Latin descent, and All of the people celebrating their cultures in this country.
